Make a fondant disc for your Edible Image

For a more professional finish, attach your Edible Images to a fondant disc before putting them on your cupcakes. This not only looks much nicer but also helps to avoid any lumpiness from your icing showing through. It also eliminates any drooping due to the moisture in buttercream or the level of humidity in the air. You can also stand your images upright.

Here’s how . . . . . . .

  • STEP 1.

Roll out some fondant or gum paste to approximately 2 or 3mm thick. Cut out the required number of discs with a round cutter that is slightly larger than your edible images. Set aside to dry out.

  • STEP 2.

Apply a very small amount of water or edible piping gel to your dry discs. A small atomizer or pastry brush works well for this stage. Just be sure to apply sparingly and keep your Edible Images well away at this stage.

  • STEP 3.

With clean and dry hands, carefully remove your Edible Images from the backing sheet and apply to your disc. Be very careful not to get any moisture on the printed side. Allow to dry.

  • STEP 4.

The edges may curl up slightly as they dry. You can gently press them down with clean, dry hands but they usually settle back down in place on their own.

STEP 5.

Once completely dry you can pop them on to you cupcakes and they will keep their shape beautifully!
